He passed from this life at his home on Pennsylvania Ave. of this city, at 2:45 p.m., August 30, 1922, aged 89 years and four days. He was married to Livie E. STRAIGHT, of Sandusky, Ohio, June 20, 1865. To this union wer born five children. They are Charles James, who passed away 18 years ago; Jennie A. VINE, of Holton, Kan.; Wilmot E., of Topeka,Kan.; Fred S. of Hoyt, Kan., and Ross Edelbert of Sternling, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. May came to Kansas in the year of 1886 and engaged in farming. Eighteen years ago they came to Holton and retired form strenuous labors. Mr. May has been a member of the United Brethern church for thirty years. He was not a demonstrative man but vitallly interested in the church and all that is right. He represented a high type of manhood and good citzenship. He was a soldier in the Union Army the last nine months of the Civil War. Mr. May lived to a good old age. He was quite strong all his life until the last few years, and even to the last moments he was entirely rational. He had a strong presentiment that his days were numbered and waited with a triumphant resignation for the coming of his Lord. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Waring of the Methodist church at the home on Friday afternoon, Sept. 1, at 2:30 o'clock. The Will Wendell Post had charge of the services at the grave.
