The marriage of Miss Dorris LuVerne MELL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mell, and Lewis Harold DeFOREST, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. DeForest of Kansas City, Mo., took place Wednesday morning, September 20, 1922, at 9:30 o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. J.E. RODERICK sang "I Love You Truly," and Miss Marye BARCAFER played the Mednelssohn Wedding March. Rev. Otis E. GRAY of Wichita read the marriage service in front of a trellis entwined with pink and white asters and sprays of asparagus. During the ceremony, "To a Wild Rose" was played by Miss Barcafer of Kansas City, while congratulations were being received. The guests were limited to the members of the families and a few intimate friends. The bride wore a gown of white crepe de chine with a wedding veil of tulle, fastened with pearl heads. Her bridal bouquet was of Ophelia roses. The maid of honor, Miss Ione Mell, wore a frock of white organdie with a corsage of roses and snap dragons. The little flower girl, Laura Ann LUECK, cousin of the bride, scattered roses before the bridal party. Mr. DeForest was attended by his brother, Forman DeForest. Ms. DeForest's traveling tailleur was a blue point twill suit with black velvet hat and fur neck piece. Mr. and Mrs. DeForest left Wednesday noon for a trip to Wichita and Omaha. Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. R.A. DeForest, Forman DeForest and Miss Marye Barcafer of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Arthur ADAMS of Omaha, Nebr., Miss Francis EWALT of Manhattan, Kan., Miss Olive REYNOLDS of Holton, Kan., and Mr. and Mrs. C.D. LUECK of Netawaka, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. DeForest are strictly Wetmore young people. They were born and raised here. They were educated in Wetmore schools and graduated form the high school several years ago. The bride attended college a few years and also taught several years in Holton Junior High School, and is a highly accomplished young lady. The groom enlisted in the service in sthe spring of 1917, and was soon overseas where he served with valor in some of the hardest fighting of the world war.
