Charles RAYFIELD was born in Bremen, Germany, on April 19, 1841, and died August 28, 1922, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 9 days. He came to America at the age of 16, landing at New Orleans, La., on Nov. 25, 1857, and was naturalized October 3, 1866.. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in Co. B., 7th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, and served throughout the war, engaging in 35 battles and being wounded three times. He was converted at the age of 28 at revival meeting held at the United Brethren church, Holton, Kan. In 1874 he joined the Evangelical church and was a member of that church until he moved to Horton, in 1887, at which time his membership was transferred by letter to this church. He was loyal to his church and attended faithfully until the last few years when his physical condition prevented his regular attendance. He was married Sept. 6, 1865, to Eveline WILSON. to this union three children--George, William and Isaac, were born. Eveline Wilson Rayfield died Nov. 1, 1870. he was married to Louisa HILDEBRANDT on Jan. 1, 1874, and to this union four children--Henry Edward, Anna Rebecca, Nellie May and Franklin J.--were born. Anna Rayfield WESTEEN, died May 28, 1917, and Nellie May died at the age of eight months. He is survived by his wife and five children--Geo. B., of Atchison; William H., of Oldsbur, Okla.; Isaac C.. of Fairbury, Neb.; Henry Edward, of Belleville, and Franklin J., of Horton. Funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. B.M. HOPKINS and Rev.
