FAIRCHILD, while he was sitting on the south steps of the court house and struck him twice with a stone, once on the arm, and once on the back of the head and neck. Seth sprang up, a little bewildered by the last blow--and drew his pistol. Pink started to run. Seth fired and Pink fell as though he had been shot, but scrambled up and run like a trooper. Seth cocked his pistol to fire again; but reflected a moment and did not. Pink's brother came threateningly towards Seth, but when the pistol was presented, prudently desisted from any hostile act. Pink and Seth were each fined a dollar and cost. The difficulty grew out of something that occured at the ball in the court house Thursday evening--whisky, we guess.
