The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, September 22, 1877 September 22, 1877
Charlie NICKUM tells us that Mrs. EDMONDS, on the county line east, had two
horses poisoned to death. They had been eating plentifully of rosin weed
flowers, while mowing, and it is thought that either the blossom or an insect
that infests it did the mischief.
