The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, September 1, 1877 September 1, 1877
Fatal Accident.--Mr. James FISHER, one of our prominent cattle traders met his
death while looking after some cars of stock which he had in a train, shipping
to Chicago. A switch engine backing up the track unnoticed by Mr. Fisher, ran
over him, killing him instantly. His remains were received home Friday, over the
Rock Island road, and buried the same day. He leaves a wife and three children
to mourn his sad fate.
