The Oskalooa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, May 27, 1880 May 27, 1880
As Dr. BALSLEY was ridinig in his buggy on Tuesday, just beyond Geo. A.
PATTERSONS, a flash of lightening seemed to envelop the surrounding space. His
arms were so shocked by the electricity that the lines fell from his hands. The
horses reared up nearly straight and the smell of sulphur was very strong. He
felt the effects of the shock for some hours.
