The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, January 26, 1878 January 26, 1878
A number of citizens met Monday evening and started a literary society by
electing F.M. JOHNSON president, James SMITH, secretary, C.B. McCLEEAN, J.H.
JOHNSON, L.J. TROWER, Miss Mary SMITH and Miss Ella BLISS executive committee,
and making out a programme for Monday evening next, to be given at the township
school house. The programme consists of various exercises, which you can learn
more about by attending at 6:30. Everybody invited.
