A club and an ax figured prominently in the fracas, and yet nobody was hurt, beyond a little hair pulling. We were told a few days ago that it was currently reported at the Falls that the grasshoppers are eating the peaches at Oskaloosa and throwing the stones at passers-by. We promptly contradicted the rumor. Tuesday night, at Winchester, an attempt was made to transfer some four or five hundred hogs from one corral to another, when they broke away from the drovers and into a cornfield, where, in about ten minutes, they did damage to the corn to the amount of $27; at least, that was the amount paid by their owners. Over two thousand hogs were shipped from Winchester, the first of the week about one thousand of them by Eli EVANS, of this place, one of the most active buyers in the county. He is purchasing for Smith, of southern Iowa, and the hogs will be sent there to feed. Mr. E. has been on the rush for some days, and has done a good deal of work in short time, proving himself a first-rate hand in this line.
