O.B. SHELDON of Marysville, Mo., who has been here assisting C.O. SULLIVAN in the jewelry store for several weeks was shot Wednesday night about 12 o'clock by an unknown highwayman at C.H. PLINNEY's, where he is boarding. The shooting occurred at the back of the lot. He managed to reach the house and aroused Prof. KING telling him that some one had hit him in the back. He at once lost consciousness and at this writing is not rational, (Thursday afternoon) The bullet was of 32-calibre and struck him squarely in the back just above the verebrae and rebounded as it was found in his clothing. His keys, knife, and hat were found in the rear end of the lot and his empty pocketbook was found in the alley. His pockets were turned inside out. It was probably some tramp and no doubt robbery was the motive. Sheriff RILEY came down at once but so far the guilty party has not been found. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/jefferson/newspapers/shooting118gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
