ALLEN, Esq., was somewhat curtailed in this place last Saturday evening.--Owing to the unfavorable weather, or some other cause, but few were out, and it would have been too much like "wasting sweetness on the desert air," to have gone into a lengthy discussion of the subject. 4 1/2 lbs. coffed for one dollar at W. A. Hamilton & Co.'s. A rain on Monday, followed by cool weather until Wednesday night, when another heavy shower occurred. It is delaying farm work considerably. The high waters, breaks in the dams, &c., have let the fish come up into Delaware and Slough creeks, and the amount of angling done is immense. CRAIGHIE, a tramping painter who worked for TRAPP during the Winter, lately "jumped the town," leaving a few of our merchants out several dollars each. Look out for him! A few couples did a fishing go last Friday, but the stock of fish in the Delaware wa not depleted to any alarming extent. Al. HAMILTON claims the belt, as having caught the largest fish. It is an actual fact that more than one young man has lately procurred a marriage license in this place with the understanding that if he did not use it he might return it and have his money refunded!! DUNN renewed his application for whiskey-saloon license, and the councilmen voted as follows: Ayes, R.H. DEIBERT, Eli EVANS, E.T. ELLIS, E. BUCKMASTER,. No, John HOLLER. "The end is not yet."
