The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, May, 22, 1880 May 22, 1880
There is a city ordinance, published March 11, 1871, in this paper, making it a
misdemeanor to ride or drive over a sidewalk punishable by a fine of not less
than $1, no more that $50. This ordinance should be enforced to protect the
sidewalks, which have been damaged in a number of instances by violating its
provisions.
