The Oskaloosa Independent, Saturday, May 3, 1879 May 3, 1879
A train of wagons, accompanied by twenty men and ten women and children, passed
through here, Monday on their way from Cedar county, Mo., to Montana. Some of
the men had big revolvers and something less than a peck of cartridges in their
belts, looking as if they thought they were already in the midst of Indian country.
