J.B. BETTS, an old settler in the neighborhood, died suddenly Monday the 17th inst. He had experienced several apoplectic attacks before, so this was not entirely unexpected. He attended church on Sunday morning and spoke in class meeting, apparently in the enjoyment of health, retired Sunday night well as usual; abotu two o'clock next morning was attacked with severe pain in the head, accompanied with other unfavorable symptoms, and about 3 o'clock breathed his last. He was 60 to 68 years of age, a native of the State of Delaware. In early life moved to Illinois, and from there to Kansas in 1861. He was a member of the M.E. church and a liberal contributor to the support of the gospel. He leaves a family of seven children, four married and three single, all residing in this vicinity.
