The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, July 3, 1875
Sad Accident.--During the storm of last Saturday night, about 10:30 o'clock, the
dwelling house of Dr. Birdsell, in Nortonville, a one-and-one-half story frame
building, was blown down and torn to pieces, the Doctor and his wife being hurt,
the former seriously so, and their infant child killed. This is a sad affair,
and will be a terrible blow to Dr. B., and his family.
