The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, January 26, 1878
Uncle Tommy BOOTH, who lived at different times in this place, Winchester and
the Fals, but who for some time past has been in California, lately came to his
death near San Monica, Cal. He was found near the foot of the sea bluff, whith
both legs and arms broken, and numerous bruises, having evidently fallen from
the top, a distance of sixty feet. His cane was in his grasp, and his pipe
beside him. Found several days after the accident had probably occurred. Uncle
Tommy was a kind, good-hearted man, and his friends will regret to hear of his
violent death.
