Mrs. Sophia (Serfrit) FLEISCHER was born in North Carolina, Oct. 11, 1813, died August 11, 1907, aged 93 years and ten months, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. HIESTAND, Yates Center, Kansas, whither she had gone nearly two years before. In Indiana Feb. 19, 1839 she was married to Mr. M.G. FLEISCHER three years from Germany, who nine years ago preceded her to the land of the Leal. To this union were born eight children, three dying in infancy. Two daughters, Mrs. John O. BOOTH and Mrs. ROLLINS died in middle life, and the oldest son the late Geo. W. FLEISCHER died the present year, leaving only two surviving children, Mrs. Ben. W. FLEISCHER of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. W.H. HIESTAND. After 16 years in Indiana the FLEISCHERS moved to Iowa, living in Jefferson and Story counties until 1862 when they moved to Nebraska near the present site of Lincoln. In February 1872 they located in the city of Valley Falls. In 1879 they moved to their last abiding place in the Pacific district east of town, where ten years later, Mrs. and Mrs. M.G. FLEISCHER celebrated their Golden wedding in a manner never to be forgotten by their old friends of that neighborhood. At the age of 18 Sophia was converted and to the day of her departure Grandma FLEISCHER, a beloved mother in Israel, was a faithful member of the M.E. church. Beaded on her line of live are 31 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and wonderful may be the issue on the lenghtening scroll of time. Tuesday Aug. 13 the funeral was held from the church at Boyle in the presence of many friends Rev. Jesse R.
