Moved to Iowa in 1845, then to Missouri in 1846. From there to California in 1849 and back to Iowa in 1851. Was married August 12, 1852. Came to Kansas in 1857. Served as deputy sheriff two or three times in this county, and was elected sheriff in 1863, re-elected in '65, and again in 1871. At the time of his death was living on his farm, three miles northeast of this place. Was a member, we believe of the M.E. church.
