Was born in Wales, 1816. Parents emigrated to Canada when deceased was five years of age, from there to Ottawa, Ill., from there to Potosi, Grant Co., Wis., where he united with the M.E. church. There he married his first wife, who lived only three years after marriage. About 27 years ago he married his present wife, the family emigrating to Kansas and locating at Lawrence. He suffered many privations to which the early settlers were subject, and narrowly escaped with his life at the burning of Lawrence. Bro. Jones was a friend to the afflicted, for he was the subject of great affliction himself, and could properly sympathize with the suffering. Was a kind husband, and indulgent father and a good neighbor. He leaves a wife and four children here, and numerous relations and friend in the East to mourn his loss. We trust he died in the triumphs of the Christian faith, and that our loss is! his eternal gain. Let us meet him in Heaven. T.P. Pitzer.
