The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, May 4, 1878
An Irishman named John KANE who has been working for the Wiley boys and others,
died very suddenly Friday night at Joe Vendel's. An inquest was held and the
finding of the injury was in substance, we believe, that he died of too much
whisky and beer.
