About seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lee moved to Hosper, Colo. On the 8th of December 1906, Dr. Lee came to Leavenworth making a short visit there and at McLouth among his children and friends. Leaving on the 12th for Harrisburg, Ill., to a specialist to be treated for cancer. After passing through the treatement he remained in the hospital a few days then came to his brother's at Carbondale, Ill., there to rest and visit until he could gain strength enough to make the trip home. He seemed cheerful and getting better, but complained some of the heavy atomsphere and the great difference in the light altitude of Colorado and the damp, heavy altitude of Illinois, which with his weakened condition possibly effected his heart. Yet he seemed cheerful all day on Thursday and after eating a hearty supper he returned to the sitting room and entered into conversation with the folks. He told them how glad he was that the cancer had been removed and his eye healing so nicely. Shortly after he had a little spell of coughing and placing his hands on! the arms of the chair and leaning back he dropped his head and quietly passed away. The remains were brought to McLouth arriving on the 6th, and funeral services were held from the Baptist church, Jan. 7, 1907, at 2 p.m., at the close of which followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends, and after a beautiful ceremony by the Modern Woodmen of America of which he was a member, the deceased was laid to rest in the Wild Horse cemetery. The family have the sympathy of their many friends in this sad hour. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/jefferson/obits/l/lee1098gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
