The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, August 12, 1876
The wife of Jackson McCULLY died on Saturday evening last, and was buried on
Sunday. Funeral services took place at the residence of Mr. McCully, three miles
north of town, an dwas attended by a large concourse of neighbors and friends.
Mrs. McCully was afflicted with a cancer on her breast, and sometime last spring
had an operation performed at Kansas City, an dfor a while she was supposed to
be getting better, but the disease suddenly changed, and death terminated her
sufferings as above stated. Mr. McCully, in his sore bereavement, has the
sympathy of the entire community.
