Uncle Benedict MEYER has fallen asleep. Sitting in his easy chair at his old farm home three miles northeast of town Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock the aged man passed peacefully away. Death at last has freed him from a long affliction. Benedict MEYER was born in Switzerland in 1822, and since 1855 Valley Falls has been his abiding place. He was a fine old gentleman, and in his veins coursed royal blood, we are told. Three times was he married and thrice was he bereft, his last "good woman" dying only a few years ago. In the family plot on a hill near their old home chosen more than half a century ago he is at rest by the side of his trio of loved ones, and his son John who died in his 17th year. He is survived by his daughters three, Mrs. Josephine SENN, Mrs. Virona SMITH, Mrs. Caroline GALLAGHER, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Emillie LEWIS; and his sons five, Antoine, Rudolph, Albert, Benjamin and Edward. The funeral was held, undertaker SCHULER in charge, from the house Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. SCHRENCK of Coal Creek officating at the services in a large presence of old neighbors and friends. =================================================== Contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archive Project (http://www.usgenweb.org) and by the KSGenWeb USGenWeb Archive Project USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
