On investigation there was found a fresh wagon track, but Mr. Parks' mother, who had been at home all day, knew nothing of there being any wagon at the gate, nor that any person was near. The particulars, as far as we can learn, are as follows: This Mr. MOTT was a feeble old man who made his home, or has been of late staying, at Mr. FARRIS', near Hickory Point. On the Thursday previous he was taken sick and on Saturday got over to his son-in-law's, a Dick GRANT, who lives on the Hodge farm. He was only permitted to remain over night; the unkind, if not brutal son-in-law had him hauled off in almost a dying condition over to Mr. Park's, where he was found as above stated. This indeed a sad and disgraceful affair to happen in a civilized commuity. An inquest was held over the body and then it was at last laid to rest, in decent apparel and coffin, in the cemetery at Nortonville. the verdict of the coroner was that the man came to death through exposure and want of propery attention.
