Evert Wayne Porter.
Evert Wayne PORTER, age 32, of Perry died Friday, June 30, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born June 19, 1929 at Alma. Later the family moved to Perry, and Evert
attended the Perry Grade School, being active in sports. 
He served in the Korean War, and since then had been active in the American
Legion of Perry. For the past eleven years, he had been employed by the Capitol
Truck Lines of Topeka.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Clara Porter of Perry; his father, Francis E.
Porter of Topeka; 33 brothers, Marvin Porter, of Topeka, Ralph Porter of Topeka,
and John Porter of Perry; also four sisters, Mrs. Lola PLANK of South Gate,
Calif., Mrs. Mildred REESE of Topeka, Mrs. Marilyn WEEKS of Topeka, and Mrs.
Wilma CASTO of Jewell, Iowa. One sister, Myrna Joanne, had preceded him in death
in 1944. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews, other relatives and a
host of friends.
Services were conducted  from the Perry Methodist Church on Monday, July 3, with
the Rev. Walter E. Simpson officiating.  Mrs. Dale STARK was organist and Mrs.
Roy CAMERON the soloist.
The pallbearers were: Roscoe KEESLING, Wallace ROBB, Robert HEMME, Ronnie
BRANNOCK, Robert TRUDE, Roy SEETIN. The honorary pallbearers were: Elliott
BRUNTON, LeRoy HURD, Keith ELLIS, Gene HUNTER, Alvis HUNTER, Phil SWAGGERTY,
Dick THOMPSON, and Eugene BATES.
Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery of Perry with a graveside service by the
American Legion.
