Raines Dead. Mrs. J.L. RAINES, 71, widow of the late J.L. Raines, died Wednesday evening at her home, 723 Lindenwood, Topeka, following closely upon a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Raines, who was president of the Perry State Bank, passed away in a very similar manner only a few weeks ago, January 12. Funeral services will be held today, Friday, 2:00 o'clock, at the Perry Methodist Church. Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Raines was born near Richmond, Ray county, Mo., April 24, 1858. She was a daughter of Gideon B. CARSON, of the early settlers of Jefferson county. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Edna Raines, of the home address; a son, V.C. Raines; two grandsons, James L. Raines, Jr., and Gerald E. Raines, Perry; a sister, Mrs. B.L. FOWLER, Perry, and two brothers, George G. CARSON and Harry L. Carson, both of Texas.
