Levi Lovejoy SCHENCK, age 91 years, seven months and 17 days, of Williamstown died Saturday morning at the Dever Nursing Home, Lawrence. He was born in Indiana, Nov. 21, 1869, the son of John and Mary Schenck. Five brothers and 5 sisters have preceded him in death, one of whom was a twin brother who died in infancy. He with his family moved to Kansas in about the year 1870 and settled on a farm near Springdale. He has been a resident of Kansas most of his 91 years. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church at an early age and was ordained to the ministry about the year 1914, following in the footsteps of his father who was also an ordained Primitive Baptist minister. he was a staunch defender of the faith and served as the pastor of several churches in Missouri and Kansas for many years. He wa married to Amy Arminta ZINN, June 29, 1892. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Viola ALLEN of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Lottie STALLARD, Perry, and a son, Garrett Ryker Schenck, who died in infancy. Nine years following the death of his wife, he married Mrs. Leonora Wood GRAY who preceded him in death July 10, 1949. Besides his two daughters, he is survived by a step daughter, Mrs. Rennie COWAN of San Bernardino, Calif., five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many friends.
