Eric C. STEEPER, 75, died at his home in McLouth Tuesday. The prominent man was president of the Bank of McLouth and had been associated with the bank since he was 19 years old. Funeral services are being held Thursday in the E.U.B. Church, McLouth, with burial in the local cemetery. Steeper was born near McLouth January 9, 1887, and spent his entire life in the town. One of the most active boosters of the town, Steeper was a hard worker in community affairs. He also held a number of offices in county and state banking associations. He was a member of the board of York College, York, Nebraska. The awards and recognitions Mr. Steeper received during a lifetime of service were many. In 1960, he received the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver award for distinguished service to boyhood. He was a charter member of the McLouth Kiwanis Club, a past president of the organization and held an unexcelled 17-year perfect attendance record. Devoted to his church, the McLouth Evangelical United Brethren, Steeper served as the Sunday School superintendent for forty years.
