Anna SWAFFORD, 68, departed this life early Friday morning, October 13, at her home north of Perry. She was born into the home of John and Malinda ROBERTS on Nov. 4, 1892, at Litton, Tennessee. At the age of eleven years she joined the Methodist Church at Melvin, Tennessee, of which she was a member the remainder of her life. As a young lady, she taught public school in Tennessee for four years. She was united in marriage to Sidney Swafford on March 21, 1919 at Pikeville, Tennessee. They came to Kansas at that time, making their home in the Ozawkie and Perry communities. Survivors include her husband of the home; two foster sons, Floyd Swafford of Ozawkie and Eldon BRIGHT of Grantville; three sisters, Clarice Swafford of Chickamagna, Georgia; Hattie MULLINAX of LaFayette, Georgia, and Eliga SCHNITTYER of Anderson, California; two brothers, Jack ROBERTS of Knoxville, Tenn., and Lee Roberts of Pikeville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; many neices, nephews; and a host of friends. A brother Charles Roberts and a grandchild, Joyce Ann Swafford had preceded her in death. Services were conducted from the Methodist Church at Perry on Sunday, October 15 with the Rev. Walter SIMPSON officiating. Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Perry.
