The Oskaloosa Independent, Jefferson County, Saturday, September 15, 1877
The deaf mute son of Thomas TILLMAN died Tuesday morning last. While attending
the deaf and dumb asylum he was struck with a pitchfork by another mute boy in a
fit of anger, and his side seriously wounded, some of the ribs being broken, we
understand. We do not know whether that had anything to do with is death or not.
