The Meriden Message

Irvin VOTAW was born September 15, near, Wright, Iowa and departed this life
Sunday afternoon Feb. 25, 1962 at the Dever Rest Home in Lawrence, at the age of
89 years. He married Myrtle HAYES, January 1, 1896 in Cedar, Iowa; living 66
years of wedded life together. He was a retired farmer and a resident of Hesper
community for 58 years and was a life long member of the Friends Church.
Survivors include his widow, Myrtle of the home; three daughters, Lula SNIDER of
Linwood; Blanche KNABE and Clara BAECKER both of Eudora; three sons, Milo Votaw
of Lawrence, Ralph and Everett Votaw of Eudora; a brother Merritt C. Votaw of
Whittier, Calif.; 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. A son, Eldon, preceded him in death in 1951.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hesper Friends Church.
