WHITE of Topeka received word from England last week that his son, William J. "Bill" WHITE, an officer in the American Eagle Squadron of the Royal Air Force, had been killed in an aircraft accident on October 8. News of the accident was received by cablegram from the British Air Ministry. No details of the accident were given. White, just 21, has been in England since the first of July and was just recently assigned to the American Eagle Squadron. He is a graduate of Tpoeka Catholic high school and had spent three years at Washburn college before leaving school to take up aviation. He attempted to join the United State Naval and Marine Air Corps but was rejected by both because of a small growth within his nose. He then went to Tulsa, Okla, where he was given training sponsored by the Canadian government. Following his training in Tulsa to was transferred to Ottawa, Canada, and then to England.
