Obituary of WOOD, Arminta Frances Jefferson County, KS 1909 The Perry Mirror, Jefferson County, Kansas, October 28, 1909 Arminta Frances Wood, much beloved and well known citizen of Jefferson Co., Kansas, and who departed this life on Sunday, October 17, 1909, was born October 22, 1830, in Kentucky and immigrated to the state of Missouri at the age of 10 years, and was joined in holy bonds of matrimony to Gideon Jerome Wood, at the age of 18 years. To this union there were born seven sons and four daughters; of this number, five sons and three daughters survive her. She was left a wido about 17 years ago, and remained the same until the end came. Sister Wood became a member of the old school Baptist church about the year of 1868 or 1870, and was baptized by Elder W.F. Jones, and she adorned her profession by holding to the faith until her final departure of this life. In her death the family has lost a dear mother, and the neighborhood, a noble neighbor, and the church, we feel we say, a noble member. We pray the good Lord to comfort the bereaved. Elder A.D. Jones of Topeka spoke words of comfort at the funeral, to a large audience, who mourned her loss. We love her, yes we loved, But the angels loved her more, And they have sweetly called her To yonder shining shore. The golden gates were open, A gentle voice said come, And with farewell unspoken, She calmly entered home. A Friend.
