Harlow Oct. 17, 1875 May 16, 1938 Additional Comments: Before any details, I must immediately come to defense of early schoolteachers. Many are not aware of this, but until WW1 era passed. Teachers could not be married, some stopped teaching at age 29 to marry, as did contributors mother. Her fathers brother had a dau who stopped teaching in 1910 to marry, but pickings are slim at that age. Emma Harlow had to take a husband who was nearly 60 years old. Mother married at age 29 in 1921, but was allowed to teach afer WW1. Edna Pearl was in a bad spot, she grad Spivey HS. When she turned 29 in 1905. To keep teaching she could not marry. Biological clock very loud at age 29.
