Oswego (JNS)- Roy Glenn Bevans, 13, of Labette City, died yesterday afternoon of accidental gunshot wounds soon after he was admitted to Oswego Hospital. Dr. I. J. Waxse, Labette County Coroner, said the youth was stuck by a charge from a .12 gauge shotgun that was fired accidentally while being carried by a brother, Richard. The boys had gone to the rain swollen Labette Creek banks not far from their home when the accident occurred, about 1 P.M., officers said. Roy was a member of the braves baseball team in the Little League in Oswego. He was graduated from the 8th grade in Labette school last spring. His father, John F Bevans died May 17, 1956. Survivors are his mother, Mrs Eva L Bevans, five sisters: Mrs Velma Price, Borgar Texas; Mrs Nolan Wilkins, Parsons; Mrs Shirley Martin, Wichita; Dovie Ruth and Margaret all of the home. Four Brothers: John F. Bevans, US Army, stationed at Ft Sill; Winaford O Bevans, US Navy at Norfork Va; Richard and Larry of the home. Roy had lived at Labette City all his life. He was born there July 22, 1945. The body is at the Hammonds Funeral Home. Arrangements for services are incomplete.
