Clipping in Orton family bible [copy of obituary in files of Steve Harrison.] "Mrs. Mary Louise Closser was born in Beaver county, Pa., June 1, 1853, and died at her home in Chetopa, Jan. 2, 1902. Her early life was passed in Pennsylvania and Illinois. While yet a school girl she moved with her parents to Chetopa, where she was married Jan. 29, 1873, in the Presbyterian church, by the Rev. McCreery, to D.O. Closser, whose death occurred a year and a half ago. To the father and mother were born three daughters, Z. Ethel, Fay Genevieve and Cornelia Frances, all of whom survive her, to mourn this their saddest loss. Mrs. Closser was known in the community as a devoted mother who would make any personal sacrifice to give pleasure to her family. She had been in failing health for over a year, but it was hoped and expected by those who loved her best that she would in time recover, but her constitution proved unable to longer cope with disease, so she has gone to join her husband, and to await the coming of her other loved ones in her home of eternal joy and peace. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church, Saturday [Jan. 4] afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and the remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery."
