While they knew she had been ill they did not realize death was so close. Mrs. Burns, 64, a native of Platte County moved with her family to Leavenworth in 1965 . She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leavenworth and of the Dorothy Lincoln Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the Pleasant Ridge Club and the Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Burns was a quite and kind woman whose family and home were always first. She was a neighbor who answered in the time of sorrow and illness and was never too busy to help. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Burns of the home and an only daughter, Mrs. Margaret Jane Weilage of Manhattan. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Willis, Aurora, Il., and Mrs. Sue Miller of Leavenworth and two grandchildren. Services were Saturday at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth with burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
