Gray was born in Lexington, Ky., 80 years ago. He had been hospitalized several weeks and died at the V.A. hospital in Wadsworth May 26th. Mr. Gray had been a carpenter in his early years but his hobbies, fishing and bee-keeping, kept him busy much of his later years. The body lay in state at Vaughn's Chapel until the hour of the funeral, ten o'clock in the morning, Monday. The Rev. Harry Butler of Kansas City officiated. Burial was in Wadsworth cemetery. Surviving Mr. Gray are four daughters and one son: Mrs. Glenn Prunty, Panama; Mrs. Brodie Koon, Versailles, Mo.; Mrs. Don Howe, Colorado Springs; Mrs. Clyde Guyles, Weston; and John I. Gray, Kansas City. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. L.R. Vaughn presided at the organ durning the funeral and pallbearers were members of the American Legion Post 501 to which Mr. Gray belonged: Robert Kottman, Kent Weigman, William Osthoff, Charles Sebus, J. A. Offutt and Charles Quinley.
