Mrs. McKay, accompanied by Mrs. L.W. Harbaugh, went to Kansas City on the 5th for medical and surgical treatment. On the afternoon of the 8th, Mrs. McKay was put upon the operating table for the removal of tumors. After the operation she rallied and spoke hopefully regarding her recovery, but died a few hours later from the shock and loss of blood. Mrs. McKay’s maiden name was McMichael, and she was born in Crawford county, Pa., July 24, 1858. She was married July 2, 1875, to Peter McKay, and was the mother of two sons, both of whom, with her husband, survive her. With her family and her father’s people she came to Lincoln, Kan., in 1886 and resided here until her death. She united with the Presbyterian church in 1876, and by letter with the Methodist church in 1879 and remained a member of the latter church until her death. At the time of her death she was a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher and a stewardess. Mrs. McKay was a true friend, a good neighbor and a faithful christian. Energetic and untiring in all good works, and devoted to her family. Additional Comments: The funeral was held on Tuesday, April 11, at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. W.L. Cannon, and the interment was made in the Lincoln cemetery.
