McMichael Obituary Alvin E. McMichael was born Sept. 15, 1855, at Adamsville, Crawford County, Pa., and departed this life at his home southeast of Lincoln, Nov. 23, 1929, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 8 days. He lived in his native city where he received his education and learned his trade, that of a stone mason, until he was 31 years old. It was in this little town he became a Christian and united with the United Presbyterian church and was a consistent church member all his life. In the spring of 1886 he and his father came to Lincoln County and settled on a farm northwest of Lincoln on what is now known as J.K. Stevenson farm. There the family lived for many years, Mr. McMichael working on the farm and also at his trade when work in that line was needed. He was united in marriage with Miss Dora S. Rearwin of Lincoln on Feb. 25, 1897. Their union was blessed with two children, Mrs. Burnette Chilcott now living at Carbondale, Kan., and Charles Scott McMichael, who is now a student in aviation school at Wichita. The mother and two children survive to mourn his loss. In 1902 the family moved to Missouri and for five years lived on a farm near Lamar, that state, but moved back to Lincoln County in 1907 and settled on a farm north of town and later moved to Lincoln, where they lived until a few years ago when they moved on the farm where they built a new home and where they lived until his end came. In 1895 he united with the Presbyterian church of Lincoln by letter from his old home church and was regular attendant at the services when at all possible. By his pleasing personality, quiet manner and friendly disposition he made friends with everybody whom he met. He never spoke an evil word of anyone he knew. For the past three years he has been in failing health but no one ever heard him complain. He went on just as he always did, bearing his suffering bravely and without complaint. He loved his family and his home, was a great believer in education and a strong supporter of our public schools. He is survived by his wife, the two children named above, three brothers, Matthew M. of Topeka, John of Detroit, Mich., and Oscar of Quenemo, Kan. Additional Comments: The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 26. The interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery. He is buried along with his wife, Margaret and daughter, Agnes.
