GRAY, son of Mr. Joesph Gray, of this county, Mound City township, was drowned in Otter Creek, Greenwood county, on Wednesday, April 26th, while fishing with a seine. Endeavoring to swim the creek he was taken with cramp and before assistance could be had he perished. Mr. Gray was a young man, 29 years of age, and served during the war in what was known as the black or First Kansas Battery. He was a trustworthy soldier and a well-to-do citizen and respected by all who made his acquaintance. We regret to know that he is not yet among us. We sympathize with his bereaved parents in the loss of their beloved and only child.
