Mr. Carpenter settled here in 1859, coming from near Peoria, Ill. He was born at Dayton, Ohio, and after having learned his trade as carpenter went to Natchez, Miss. After some time he removed to the wilds of Louisiana and occupied his time farming and hunting. His stories of his exploits with bear, deer, panther, alligators, et id omne genus, were very entertaining. From Louisana he removed to Illinois, and thence here. He was an honest upright man, and will be a loss to the neighborhood. He leaves a widow and eleven children. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/linn/obits/c/carpente1251ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.3 Kb
