"TESTIMONIAL TO MRS. HUNT

On Thursday morning, the 18th instant, God in his providence saw proper to take 
from our midst Mrs. John Hunt. We have lost a true friend, an affectionate 
mother, a faithful wife, a meek and exemplary Christian woman in every sense of 
the word.  My acquaintance had ripened into such a love for her that I consider 
the loss of her one of the greatest chastisements God has ever called me to 
pass through. She was one of my best counselors.  With what an interest she 
watched the cause of Christ, and Christ was all in all to her.  She being dead, 
yet speaketh.  Her example was as a city set up on a hill, that could not hide 
her light.  Her Godly example and chaste conversation will long be remembered 
by all those who have had the pleasure of being in her company.  How often have 
our voices mingled together in the praises of God.  How I shall miss her gentle 
voice, that is now hushed in death.  She was a lover of everything that was 
grand and noble.  It seemed to be a part of her nature to be more noble and 
good than the most of the world around her.  She was an argent lover of sacred 
music and God had blessed her with a sweet voice that I have heard many times 
singing the praises of God and the Lamb.  May her bereaved husband and children 
comfort themselves with the blessed thought that their loss is her eternal 
gain, and that she has passed from trial to triumph.  She is one more 
attraction in the haven of everlasting rest, waiting for her dear friends left 
here on earth.
