A colored boy, ten or eleven years of age, named Andrew LOCKETT, was drowned in Little Sugar Creek, at this place, about 2 o'clock p.m., last Wednesday. The creek was yet high, owing to the heavy rain of the previous night. Several boys were playing on a log, and by some means the boy fell into the water. Being unable to swim, to sink was the alternative. His body was recovered in a short time. The mother of the drowned boy is an industrious woman, who supports, by hard work, a crippled husband. She was almost frantic with grief at the death of her child. In this accident there is a lesson for children to learn and for parents to teach.
