One of the most impressive ceremonies every witnessed by the people of Parker was the funeral and interment of Loss PETERSON last Tuesday evening. Mr. Peterson during his about 40 years residence in Liberty township had become so endeared to the people that it seemed almost impossible to give him up. In all his many business transactions he has been so fiar and honest that he scarcely, if ever, had made an enemy, and everybody turned out to the funeral. His sons, Peter, Frank and Oliver personally superintended the construction of the splendid vault in which he was laid in Highland cemetery and the casket was the finest that could be bought in Kanas City. It is solid steel, perfectly air tight, finished in imitation of mahogany and of course was very beautiful. The funeral was preached by Rev. Mehl, assisted by Rev. Leisner and the pallbears were: A.G. Seaman, D.H. Saunders, D.W. Sullivan, O.J. Magers, T.L. Nunn, J.M. McCoy, Thos. Oakley, P.E. Brooks, Smith Byers and G.L. Williamson. Many of Mr. Peterson's friends from Paola, Greeley, Lane and elsewhere were present and the procession as it passed over the hill to honor him at his last resting place, was almost a mile in length. Our wish is that all might so live as to command the respect shown Mr. Peterson. It does not take wealth, for that he had only what he got by hard, honest toil. True enough he was well to do in the world but had only what would be called a humble fortune. One of the grandest, noblest things that can be siad of any man could be truthfully said of Loss Peterson. He was an honest man.--Parker Message. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/linn/obits/p/peterson324ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
