The sad intellligence was received here Sunday evening that two young ladies were drowned near La Cygne that afternoon. Upon inquiring we learved that a party of La Cygne people were out in a boat viewing the high waters of the Marias des Cygne river, when by some accident the boat capsized and Misses Birdie CASSIDAY and Georgia RICKETTS were drowned. This is a sad accident and was very fortunate it was no worse, as the boat contained eleven persons at the time, including Mr. WUTKEE, wife and baby, who barely escapted death. We understand Mrs. Wutkee held fast to the bady and had gone down the second time when she was rescued by her husband. The rest were rescued and suffered no more damage than a good wetting, and a nervous shock. The remains of the two young ladies were buried Monday afternoon. We are unable at this writing to learn any more facts concerning this sad affair.
