Eliza SILER, the tenth of thirteen children born unto her parents, Christopher and Rachel TUCKER, was born in Harrison county, Virginia, on the 6th of October 1823, and died at 5:10 p.m., Oct. 23, 1895, age 72 years and 17 days. the most of her early life was spent in Harrison County, Ohio and a few years in Illinois, when in 1858 she came to Kansas with her mother and brother, her mother died in 1867, the father having died in 1842, but she still remained an inmate of her brother's family most of her time until she was married to Henry SILER in October 1880. Since the death of her husband, which occured on the 20 of June 1888, for the last five years in Pleasanton brooding no doubt over the death of her father, mother, nine brothers and sisters, as well as husband. In April of this year her mind gave away, and in June it became necessary to place her in the county asylum where soon "fell disease" took hold of her and it became apparent that medical aid could not reach her case, she was brought by kind relatives back to her own "little home" which had been "all in all," that she might be cared for as she deserved. She thanked her friends, she thanked her God, that she had come home to die. After her sufferings began to grow the more intense, her contant prayer was "Come and take me Jesus," and that her loved ones would meet her in heaven. She suffered intensely, but with great patience and Christian fortitude. Three brothers survive her, who are respectively aged 84, 68, and 59 years, who must in nature soon join her. Forty years she was a member of the Methodist and in latter years of the Christian church. The funeral services were held at her home at 1:30 p.m., at her request, by Rev. I.B. Pulliam and the remains interred by the side of her husband in the Green Valley cemetery.
