He studied medicine first at Laporte, Indiana, and then at Rush Medical College, Chicago. He commenced the practice of his profession in Illinois in 1846, and was located at Genoa, we think, until 1860, when he came to this county, where he lived until the time of his decease. For about a year he practiced medicine in La Cygne, since which time he lived on his farm west of this city. He died of typhoid fever. His funeral took place at the Stewart school house on Tuesday morning, being largely attended. Rev. Payne, of Twin Springs, a Methodist clergyman, preached the sermon. The doctor had been a Universalist for twenty years and died a believer in the doctrines of the Universalist church.
