Obituary of Rose Anna Gillet, The Peabody Gazette-Herald, Thursday, August 6, 1936 Rose Anna Gillet, daughter of Frederick and Charlotte ( Rosalie) Mathiot was born in Buffalo, New York on the 8th day of May 1853 and departed this life at her home in Peabody, on the 26th day of July 1936 at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 18 days. The family left New York for Illinois locating at Dwight where on the 26th day of March 1869 she was married to Jule Gillet, who preceded her into eternity on March 16, 1930. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are living, one daughter having passed away in March 1879. Mrs. Gillet was ever an upright honest woman, good to all who came into contact with her, a fine neighbor and a good mother and true friend. On June 19, 1937 she united with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was received by baptism after her splendid profession of faith and trust in God and in Jesus Christ her Savior. After partaking in the Lord’s Supper an expression of abiding peace spread over her countenance and that wonderful scene at the bedside will long be remembered by all present. She leaves to mourn her departure: Lawrence Gillet, Peabody; Henry Gillet, Grover, Colorado; Chas. Gillet, Grover, Colo.; Mrs. Millie Kellum, Jule Gillet, Roy Gillet all of Peabody and Mrs. Millie Kellum of Lebo, Kansas, Also thirty grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, A. W. Malin officiating.
