Celebration of Kolbey's life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the Paola Cemetery in Paola. He was born Oct. 2, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, the son of Adam and Laurie (Manning) Bancroft. Kolbey was an outgoing child who loved the outdoors. He loved to go on walks with his family to feed the ducks and smell the flowers. No one was a stranger to Kolbey; he would always say "Hi" to everyone. He had a personality that would light up a room and make everyone around him laugh and smile. He loved playing with his big brother, Kyle, and teasing his little sister, Kynleah. Kolbey was selected as this summer's poster child for the Central Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross. Just before Kolbey and his family left for his heart surgery in Kansas City, he received a "Make A Wish" gift. Kolbey's surviving family include his parents, Adam and Laurie Bancroft, his brother Kyle Kjar, and his little sister Kynleah Bancroft, all of the home; his grandparents, Marilyn and Bill Rayfield of Osawatomie, Kan., and Dennis and Debbie Bancroft of Medina, Ohio; and his great-grandmothers, Catherine Bancroft of Lansing, Mich., and Beulah Manning of Olathe, Kan. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Manning, and his grandmother, Pam Hickman. Memorials have been established with the Central Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Ronald McDonald Family Room of Children's Mercy Hospital. Condolences may be sent to Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with arrangements, or online at kirbymorrisfuneralhome.com.
